17 Jan Happy Birthday HDTWO!
HDTWO Commercial Photography celebrate their first birthday today… Happy Birthday to us!
On the 17th January 2013 photographers Paul Goddard and Adam Spencer opened the doors to their new 4300sqft commercial photography studio based in Huddersfield. The aim was to give customers high quality and creative photography alongside the very best personal service. With driving ambition, hard work and late nights we have achieved so much in one year, and what an adventure it has been!
So we thought why not write a blog and tell you all about 2013, and what we have accomplished in our first years trading. Happy Reading!
Our studio and facilities grow from strength to strength
It was always Paul and Adam’s aim to set up and be at the forefront of technology and use the very best equipment the photographic industry could offer. So we bought the Phase one P65 camera that boasts an impressive 60.5 million pixels and Swiss made Elinchrom lighting and Apple Mac computers.
In one year we have continued to invest and now own the Canon 5D Mark III, an impressive location camera, we have doubled the number of Elinchrom flash lighting equipment and last month took delivery of our second Phase One P65 camera.
Paul and Adam are well set up for their next years trading and able to take on more clients to make HDTWO grow to the next level.
The HDTWO studio has really taken shape this year, with the introduction of our fully functioning kitchen for food photography and food styling, an impressive 16ft wide x 14ft high infinity curve, a new model changing room and now we have just put in a staircase leading to our second floor 350sqft dedicated prop store for room-set photography.
Oh and not to forget our rather large gas heater to keep us warm this winter!
Only good as the people you work with
In one year we have built up an impressive client base and it has been a pleasure working alongside some of the most well respected companies in their industries.
Paul and Adam have had a long-standing relationship with many of their clients working with them at previous photography studios, so it was great to have them on board at HDTWO. We continue to work with Suma Wholefoods in Elland who commission us for their bi-monthly catalogue and Huddersfield Based Orchid Designs whom Paul has worked with since 1992. We have had some big projects this year from Harrison Spinks Beds the fastest growing UK business in their industry. We also continue working with Europe’s no1 award winning specialist golf retailer Direct Golf UK and Lebus Upholstery one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of Sofas.
It has been a successful year for winning new clients and we welcomed global pet product manufacturer Vitakraft, and local Huddersfield companies Karmelle and Walkers Windows. London based company Stanze Interiors have photographed some stunning products over the past year ready to update their new DreamweaversUK website which is coming soon. Later on in 2013 Goliath/YDS footwear came to us with some challenging and creative location photography requirements, to which we produced some stunning images.
This is only a handful of the amazing clients we have at HDTWO and what an honor it is to work with each and every one of them. We look forward to continue our working relationships through 2014 and beyond.
A year of successful shoots
It has been a great year for studio photography and we have built some impressive room sets including bedroom sets for a new range of specialist lighting for Sensio, shot endless numbers of products including novelty Christmas jumpers and onesies for Migenie on behalf of PAB Studios, we have photographed some beautifully styled food photography for the Suma catalogue and stunning jewellery photography for Compton and Woodhouse.
But we have also been out on location a lot this year and photographed the John Lewis bed brochure on behalf of Harrison Spinks Beds, which resulted in some luxurious images. YDS boots asked us to create a police riot for their new line of Police Boots and John Letters Golf invited us to photograph Huddersfield Giants Rugby League players Eorl Crabtree and Danny Brough. Then only last week Adam photographed Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg on his visit to Yorkshire.
The greatest pleasure was taken this year whilst working with local charity Kirkwood Hospice, and photographing their new in-patient unit, Light Up a Life campaign and Annual Ball. It is great to be a part of such a worthy cause!
